With great pleasure, I would like to invite you to view our upcoming exhibition, Norval Morrisseau 2010 Retrospective, opening on October 16 and continuing until November 20.
Each painting comes with a unique story: Two works were exhibited at the G20 summit. Six works were sold originally by Jack Pollock. Select works came to the gallery directly from the artist during his lifetime. A featured work came from the collection of Canadian artist, Susan Ross, whose encounter with Morrisseau in the '60s changed the course of her career. Another work came from teacher and pilot, Robert Lavack, who met the artist in the early '60s, promoted his paintings and flew in precious art supplies. A seminal work came to the gallery via the Okanski family, truly great friends and patrons of the artist from Red Lake.
Please treat yourself to another outstanding exhibition by this Canadian art icon whose symbols and enduring artworks have become synonymous with Canada's national identity.
